1963 Porsche 356B cabriolet
This is no ordinary Porsche. It’s rare. It’s a 1963 1600cc 356B cabriolet but it’s one of the few built by Lindsay Motors of Johannesburg, the only company, outside Germany, licensed by Ferry Porsche to assemble these precious cars, at that time.

1963 Porsche 356B cabriolet
This is no ordinary Porsche. It’s rare. It’s a 1963 1600cc 356B cabriolet but it’s one of the few built by Lindsay Motors of Johannesburg, the only company, outside Germany, licensed by Ferry Porsche to assemble these precious cars, at that time.
This particular 1960’s cabriolet had been carefully restored over a 3 year period by a select group of Porsche artisans, primarily by the expert hands at Carrera Motors Johannesburg, the company where the 2 owners were trained by Porsche Salzburg.
Spares were fully imported by Carrera from Germany. The car wears several new coats of dark blue paint, brand new top and tonneau top for the cover. She also wears a new set of boots. The rebuilt engine sings along merrily with that distinctive Porsche note. The twin carbs, of course were rebuilt and fettled to fire up the engine without fiddling.
A fat history book and its original birth certificate, will accompany the car to the next keeper.
Her present owner is a member of the Vintage and Veteran Car Club of Johannesburg and the Porsche 356 Club. As such, she has been taken on breakfast and lunch runs and has never let the owner down. She is, in short, a rare beauty
